PREVIEW : Bbosa starts new reign as Express seek first win in Arua

SINAN RAJUB SENOGA

Wasswa Bbosa will officially start his new era as Express FC coach with an away game to Onduparaka in Arua on Friday.

Bbosa was re-appointed to replace George Ssimwogerere early this week and will be tasked to getting the Red Eagles back to the rails.

Bbosa faces a team Express has never defeated in seven attempts with the best they have managed being three draws and losing the other four games including the first round fixture 2-0 at Wankulukuku.

However, Bbosa as a coach has managed to defeat Onduparaka twice in Arua while at SC Villa two seasons ago and Tooro United last season.

Onduparaka are fifth on the table with 30 points while Express are currently sitting in the relegation zone with 21 points from 20 games played.

Both sides come into this fixture on the back of 1-0 defeats. Express lost Mbarara City in the last game while Onduparaka fell at Kitende thanks to Goeffrey Wasswa’s free kick.

Just like Bbosa, striker Eric Kambale completed a return to Express and is in contention to feature in his first game of the season after sitting out of the entire first round.

Express didn’t travel with first choice goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga and it’s Tonny Kyamera who is expected to start in goal while deputized by youngster Sadat Mugenyi.

In fact Kyamera made his Express debut two years ago against Onduparaka in Arua. Last season at the same venue, he featured as a defender as Express held Onduparaka to a goalless draw.

Express new recruits in Musa Mukasa, Mahad Kakooza Yaya, Isa Lumu, Arthur Kiggundu and Baker Lukooya have not yet received playing licenses and didn’t travel with the team.

Onduparaka just unveiled their last acquisitions and could feature in their first game, that is Andama Sabir from Doves All Stars and former Paidha Black Angels and Ndejje University winger Fred Nsereko Male.

Defender Hassan Muhamood will be facing his former side having featured for Express in 2016-17.

A much needed win for Express can catapult them to 24 points and possibly to the 10th position.

A win for the home side can see them complete their second double over the six time league champions in four seasons.
