Police FC have agreed terms to sign outgoing Vipers midfielder Frank Zaga Tumwesigye on a two-year deal.
The crafty midfielder has been deemed surplus to requirements at Kitende but Police FC will offer him a lease of life.
Zaga is expected to be announced as the ninth signing for the Abdallah Mubiru coached side who have embarked on building a strong team that will compete in the forthcoming season.
The pursuit for sufficient playing time prompted Zaga to opt for a move to Police instead of KCCA who were also pursuing his signature.
“KCCA FC was also pursuing Zaga’s signature but we opted for a team that would give him enough playing time and it is Police FC , we went for it. “ said the player’s agent Kasirye Hakim.
The former Uganda Cubs and Hippos creative midfielder has grown through the ranks at Kitende and graduated to the Vipers senior team in the 2016/17 season from the St. Mary’s Kitende school team.
It should also be noted that Zaga had a brief loan stint at Express FC in the closing stages of the 2018-19 season before he returned to Kitende in the subsequent campaign.
He is expected to be a key figure in the Police’s offensive department next season which is tentatively scheduled to kick off on 17th October.
The Cops have so far unveiled Tony Mawejje, Hassan Muhamood, Tom Ikara, Sammon Oloka, Muwadda Mawejje, Derrick Ochan, Eric Ssenjobe and Arnold Ssembuya.
