Police advance to quarter finals despite defeat to Bright Stars

Police FC advanced to the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to Soltilo Bright Stars in the second leg of the round of 16 at Kavumba.

The Cops who won the first leg at home prevailed to the last eight 4-2 on aggregate.

James Angu late strike was not enough to inspire a comeback for the 2019 runners up and will now have to wait for next season.

In the first period, winger Duncan Seninde came close to firing the visitors into the lead but his effort from the free kick hit the post.

At halftime breather, the two sides went into the tunnel goalless.

Angu struck for the hosts in the 79th minute but it was not enough for Baker Mbowa coached side who needed to score 3 unanswered goals to progress.

Police FC on the other hand join Vipers SC,Wakiso Giants FC, Express FC, SC Villa and KCCA FC who already booked their slots to the quarterfinals of the competition.

Bright Stars will next travel to SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday, 8th May while Police FC will face Express FC at Wankulukuku on the same day.
