Pius Obuya joins Serbian club

Ugandan midfielder Pius Obuya has confirmed that he has sealed his move to Serbian club FK Kabel Novi Sad.

This website earlier reported that the lanky midfielder flew out of the country for a trial stint.

Obuya confirmed his new club on Facebook as he officially said goodbye to Maroons FC.

” Today I finally get to say bye to maroons football Club where my story begun. Great memories I have at heart and will always be proud to be part of such a profound history. You made me what I am today and will forever be grateful.”

Obuya said in a post.

” Thank you all the coaches I worked with at maroons fc, right from the academy to the memorable day I made my senior debut, you have been a big part of my journey. And to all the players, staff members, not forgetting the beautiful fans, and the Big Uganda Prisons Family, I love you. I wish the Club the best in the future endeavors.”

He added.

” Now I put focus on helping my new team FK Kabel Novi Sad in Serbia, my new home.”

FK Kabel Novi Sad competes in the Serbian second tier commonly known as the PrvaLiga.

They are currently bottom on the 16-team table with two points garnered from nine games so far.

Last season FK Kabel Novi Sad finished third on the table and narrowly missed out on the promotion to the first tier.

Obuya will now become the second Ugandan in the Serbian second tier league after Abraham Ndugwa who is also expected to be unveiled by FK Buducnost Dobanovci.
