Mosimane released an official statement that confirmed that his reign at the Masandawana has come to an end after he accepted an offer from another club outside South Africa.

Mamelodi Sundowns has been my family for almost eight years. The President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has been a father to me. He has been a mentor, a friend, a supporter and a confidante. I could never quit him or Mamelodi Sundowns. I am only going away to carry the spirit of the yellow nation with me.”

Read part of the statement released on Wednesday afternoon.

Fresh from winning a domestic treble with Sundowns, Mosimane is set to be unveiled as the new head coach of Egyptian champions Al Ahly.

Al Ahly have already parted ways with their Swiss coach Rene Wieler who guided them to a 42nd league title in the ongoing 2019-20 season.

Mosimane leaves Sundowns after winning five league titles, three Nedbank Cups, one CAF Champions League and one CAF Super Cup among others.

The 56-year old has previously coached at Supersport United and South Africa’s national team Bafana Bafana.
