Perfect climax as St. Mary’s Kitende takes on history makers Jinja s.s in the copa coca cola finals

Jinja s.s team expected to start against Kitende.

It has been two weeks of great football in Masaka as 59 schools took part in this year’s Copa Coca-cola national championship.
It is a tournament hat has seen locals from Masaka come in large numbers to grace this great occasion.

St. Mary’s Kitende set up a final with Jinja s.s , after eliminating defending champions Kibuli 2-1 in the epic semifinal thanks to a brace from Kalumba Brain.
Jinja s.s made it to the finals after beating Nakaseke International s.s on penalties 3-1 after a 1-1 all draw.
This is the first time Jinja s.s has reached the finals in 24 years,while Kitende will be looking for the ninth crown

Local fans have promised to support Jinja s.s because Kitende has been so dominant over the years, Kitende’s Pius Wangi who has 8 goals so far says

“We will play our game though we have minimal support but we want to win and everyone is ready”,

Frank Tumwesigye(Zaga) has also been passed fit to play as for the latest news from the Kitende camp.
The talented playmaker got injured in the semifinals against Kibuli and was forced off in the second half.

However, the winner between Nakaseke international and Kibuli for the 3rd place play off will join both Kitende and Jinja for the East Africa school’s competitions set to take place at Layibi.
Kibuli’s magician Allan Okello in his words,

it’s a shame we are not in the finals, but we still have to play for the third place and be assured of competing in the East Africa school’s competitions this year”. 

The Copa Coca-cola has brought many players to the footballing world,players like Saddam Juma,Derrick Nsibambi, Dan Bilikwalira, Antony Bongole Tonny Mawejje, Farouk Miya,Keziron Kizito,Obuya Pius, Joseph Ochaya, Shaban Mohammad, James Alitho,Lubega Edrisa  and a host of others.
It’s is difficult to find a topflight division club without a player from the championships.

The tournament concludes today but the Masaka residents have had a wonderful footballing adventure in the course of two weeks,the fans have been phenomenal all throughout the tournament, the First lady and Minister for Education and Sports is expected to grace the tournament as Guest of honour.
