Ugandan defender Joseph Othieno signed a two year contract with Burundian side Musongati Football Club on Monday.
The lanky center back says he is eager to impress at his side who will also represent Burundi in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
” My new club will be taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup and I am so happy for that because it will be my first time in such a competition. I promise to help my side achieve the best through hard work.” Otieno says
Musongati FC finished runners up behind eventual winners Le Messager Ngozi in the 2019-20 season and Othieno believes they can dethrone the current champions in the forthcoming season.
” My new side finished second last season. I believe through teamwork and determination it is very possible for us to be champions next season.” He added.
Musongati FC finished the season with 56 points from 30 games, four behind Le Messenger FC Ngozi.
They are owned by newly elected Burundi president Evariste Ndyayishimiye and host their home games from Stade Ingoma in Gitega City.
