The Brazilians got off in better fashion as Thapelo Morena fired them into an early lead with a cool tap in to send the yellow and blue fans into a bouncing frenzy.

Themba Zwane doubled their lead in the 37th minute before Lebohang Maboe netted the third a moments after the restart to head into halftime breather with a three goal advantage.

The 2016 champions continued to threaten in the second period whereas their day’s opponents were a huge disappointment on the night failing to trouble Onyango in Sundowns goal.

In the same group, 2017 champions Wydad suffered a 2-0 defeat at Ivorian side Asec Mimosas, courtesy of a Amed Toure brace.

Victory sees Sundowns move to 10 points in group A heading into the last games, Wydad and Asec Mimosas on 7 each and Lobi Stars on four.

Wydad will entertain Sundowns in their final group game whereas Asec Mimosas travel to Lobi Stars.

Sundowns join holders Esperance of Tunisia into the last eight after their 2-0 victory over Horoya of Guinea in a group B encounter on Friday.
