Onyango, Miya excluded as Cranes 18-man squad depart for Nigeria

Fresh from securing a berth in the 2019 AFCON finals after beating Cape Verde 1-0 at Namboole, the Uganda Cranes will take on the Nigeria Super Eagles in an international friendly game on Tuesday.

A squad of 18 players travelled to Nigeria on Sunday morning but excludes the team’s captain Denis Onyango, Farouk Miya and Murushid Jjuuko.

Hassan Wasswa will for now be the team’s captain in Onyango’s absence.

Defenders: Nico Wadada, Godfrey Walusimbi, Hassan Wasswa, Denis Iguma, Timothy Awanyi, Isaac Muleme, Isaac Isinde

Forwards: Allan Kyambadde, Milton Karisa, Derrick Nsibambi, Patrick Kaddu, Allan Kateregga

Nigeria also sealed a place in next year’s AFCON tournament after playing to a 1-1 draw with South Africa on Saturday.

Farouk Miya scored the solitary goal that separated Uganda and Nigeria in the last game the two sides met in 2015 at the Akwa Ibo Stadium.
