Oilers Vs Patriots in a previous encounter

Landry Ndikumana lay up with just seconds left, helped deliver hosts City Oilers a 73-65 win over KPA to book their place in the final.

Oilers meet Patriots who defeated Betway Power last night 82-74 denying an all Ugandan final affair. Oilers and Patriots set the bar high recruiting anumber of their national team Basketball players as it is legal with the tournament’s rules.

Both these teams have already met in a group stage match which was so close Oilers winning it with a margin of 4 points, 77-73. Both teams shared spoils in the first quarter 23-23 with Shyaka scoring 9 and 8 for Opong.

However, Oilers stretched the lead at half time 45-43 though Patriots came back and led the 3rd quarter 61-60 with Kami Kabange ,former Oilers’ player scoring a number of 3s though Oilers went on to win the fixture 77-73 with Pegues and Opong with the highest points, 19 and 18 for Shyaka.

Coach Mwinuka’s boys defeated, Hawasa City, 111-43, Savio on 79-50, lost to Oilers 73-77, eliminated ABC 68-50 in quarter finals and defeated Betway Power 84-74 in the semi finals.

On the other hand, Oilers remain unbeaten as they face Patriots in the finals, Mandy Juruni’s men defeated, Savio 93-46, Hawasa City 111-41, Patriots 77-73, eliminated Gondar City 98-52 in quarter finals and KPA 73-65 in the semis.

Oilers will be looking at Adarius Pegues, Stephen Omony, Stanley Ocitti, Jimmy Enabu, Ben Komakech and other players to deliver their back to back Zone V championship while Patriots will have lots of hope in former Oilers’ man Kami Kabange, Aristide Mugabe (captain), Walter Nkurunziza, Didier Ishimwe, Joseph Bukuru and others. Game kicks off at 7pm MTN Arena Lugogo.
