Vipers’ search for a maiden goal at the Green light stadium continues as the two sides drew blanks when they met for the 3rd time on the same venue.
The result however enables Vipers to close in on table leaders KCCA who lost at their own ground to URA FC on the same evening. The gap is only 3 points with both teams having played 21 games.
The defending champions were fresh from a resounding 3-0 home victory to Bright stars but they lacked that same killer touch when needed most.
Halid Lwaliwa’s header and Amis Muwonge’s wasted opportunity were the only highlights of the first 45 minutes.
Tito Okello also tried with a long range effort but it could not beat Nicholas Sebwato in Onduparaka’s sticks.
In the closing stages, Vianney Sekajugo became a thorn in Vipers’ skin but thanks to Fabien Mutombora’s tenacity, the Vipers man intervened to keep his sheet clean.
The earned point keeps Vipers in KCCA’s check to only 3 points with 9 games to play whereas Onduparaka remain in 6th with 31 points.
Vipers will host Express Fc at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday 2nd , whereas Onduparaka host Maroons in Arua at the Greenlight stadium.
