Onduparaka aim to break Mbarara city’s home unbeaten run

Onduparaka FC will make a long trip to Mbarara City on match day 20 of Uganda Premier League at Kakyeka Stadium targeting their first ever win over the Ankole Lions.

The Ankole Lions boast of a very impressive home advantage having managed to also pick points off the title challengers.

This match comes days after the Caterpillars lost to big league side Proline FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo where they lost 2-1

Mbarara City are yet to taste defeat at home in the 2018-2019 season and the last time they lost a game in the league was on 30th November against Police FC at StarTimes Stadium in a game which ended 3-1.

Things have not gone right with the Caterpillars who have gone 7 games winless and their last win was on 16th- December against Police FC at Green Light Stadium in a fixture which ended 2-1.

The reverse fixture ended in a barren stalemate at the Green Light Stadium in Arua.

The three times both sides have met, Mbarara City has won 1 and the other 2 ending in barren stalemates.

Mbarara City assistant head coach Baker Kasule believes that being at home gives them confidence ahead of this fixture,

” We are home and very confident positive results will be our way we are not scared of anything.”

Livingston Mbabazi will put his trust in the club’s leading scorer Paul Mucurezi who has 6 goals, Ibrahim Orit, Ivan Eyam and Hilary Mukundane for a positive result.

Vianne Ssekajugo, Ceaser Okhuti and Toha Rashid are the men to watch as Onduparaka targets maiden victory over the Ankole Lions but Simba Sabir, Oscar Agaba and Simba Sabir are ruled out of this encounter.

Maximum points will temporarily take Mbabazi’s men to the 2nd position as they wait for the fixture between Vipers and Bright Stars on Friday 22nd – February.

Onduparaka will go 5th from 7th after maximum points in case a fixture between Tooro United and Ndejje University go in their favour.
