Hosts and defending Champions City Oilers have given good account of their recruits for the FIBA Zone V championArmoships 2017. The beasts from the east sailed through to the semi finals with a perfect 98-52 win over Gondar City.
Oilers who won the tournament in Dar es Salaam Tanzania beating the home side Ulinzi 72-49, who they had also defeated 93-55 in the group stage, started the fixture against Gondar on high leading 26-13 in the first quarter. With 4 minutes played in the 2nd quarter, Oilers had put the scores to 39-16 killing the game 55-18 at half time.
Mandy Juruni’s side booked their place in the semis scoring, 72-28, 98-53 in 3rd and last quarter respectively. Oilers wil face Kenyan side KPA who earlier eliminated Savio on 92-60.
Oilers having unlocked the door to the semi finals for Ugandan teams, Betway Power stepped against Hawasa City seeking their third semi finals in this tournament.
Anold Lando named Ikong Joseph, Micheal Makiadi, Fahamy, Willy Nijimbere and Isaac Afidra as his starting 5. Game started with low scores as Power went on to lead 21-12 in the first quarter. Hawasa ran out of ideas as the game progressed, Ikong was passing and scoring for fun, Isaac and Nijimbere with a number of un usual dunks. Power went on to lead 45-15, 70-23 in the 1st half and 3rd quarter respectively.
In the 4th quarter Power, with 6 minutes to go, score boards were reading 72-35 in favour of Betway Power, Frank Odom, Bbale Sulaiman, Ivan Lumanyike and Michael Kojo who had been brought on to start the 3rd quarter which they did well and they continued punishing Hawasa which was looking like missing home already.
Power sealed their win with 88-44 and they joined City Oilers, KPA and Patriots who they face in the semi finals in day 6 of FIBA Zone V.
