Ugandan goalkeeper Robert Odongkara has joined Ethiopian side Wolkite Kenema on a two year contract.

Odongkara has been signed to fill the void of Ivory Coast’s first choice goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo who was suspended by FIFA last month.

Gbohouo, formerly at TP Mazembe, missed the recently concluded AFCON in Cameroon, after receiving a provisional ban from FIFA after molecules of trimetazidine was detected in his urine during a check up.

Odongkara has been a free since last year in July after leaving Guinea champions Horoya AC following the end of his employment contract.

He was linked to a move to Jimma Aba Jifar, another Ethiopian side but the deal fell through.

The former SC Villa and URA FC goalkeeper spent seven seasons at Ethiopian giants St. George before joining rivals Adama City in 2018 and eventually Horoya a year later.

He is now the third Ugandan player in the Ethiopian league. Others are former KCCA duo of Derrick Nsibambi (Sebeta Kenema) and Charles Lukwago (St. George).

Wolkite Kenema are currently 7th on the Ethiopian league with 20 points after 14 games played.
