Nkata starts Mbarara era with victory over Busoga United

Paul Nkata started his coaching tenure at Mbarara City with a 2-1 win over Busoga United in a Uganda Premier League game played on Tuesday at Luzira.

Paul Mucurezi and his striking partner Brian Aheebwa scored Mbarara City’s goals while Ibrahim Mugulusi pulled one back early in the second half.

Nkata handed debuts to new boys John Adriko and Ivorian Souleymane Bamba.

Aheebwa was on a recieving end of a Mucurezi ball to draw first blood in the 16th minute.

Mucurezi doubled the lead at the stroke of halftime following a nice interplay with Ibrahim Orit.

Mugulusi who replaced Joel Madondo on the resumption, scored a beauty to reduce the deficit in the 53rd minute.

Mbarara City are now fifth with eight points while Busoga are ninth on six points.

The Ankole Lions will play against Wakiso Giants on Saturday 5th October while Busoga United will host SC Villa at the Mighty Arena on the same day.
