Nine-man Mbarara City hold Onduparaka to a barren stalemate

The Ankole Lions held Onduparaka to a goalless draw at the Greenlight stadium in Arua despite seeing two of their men sent off.

Striker Karim Ndugwa and goalkeeper Ali Kimera were both given marching orders by referee Mashoud Ssali following unsporting conduct.

Ndugwa had harshly challenged his former teammate Viane Sekajugo at hour mark before Kimera hit Gadaffi Gadinho soon after receiving a yellow for time wasting at the stoke of normal time.

The home side came close to breaking the deadlock deep in the final five minutes of the game through Sekajugo and substitute Ezra Bida only to be denied by the woodwork.

Muhamood Hassan also had his header from a Gadinho delivery miss target by a whisker in the 73rd minute.

The stalemate leaves both teams third (Onduparaka) and fourth (Mbarara City) on 24 points with Livingstone Mbabazi’s charges having played a game less.

Mbarara City will face Kirinya Jinja SSS in their next game on Wednesday 9th January whereas Onduparaka will visit Vipers at Kitende.
