Wakiso Giants new goal keeper Samson Kirya has admitted to feeling nervous when he was named by Douglas Bamweyana to start his first competitive game after being out injured for over 900 days.

Kirya sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2018, an ailment that has kept him on the sidelines since.

“I really waited for this moment for a long time. I thank God enough”

“Psychologically you are a bit nervous but it is a matter of time since the friendly games are different from matches. I have trained well which made me strong and the preseason games I have been involved in prepared me”.

“The mere fact that I have been able to play competitive football again, I really feel good, I am courageous and I know with time it will feel very normal”

He added.

The custodian managed to last 64 minutes of their 2-2 draw with Kyetume on Tuesday before being replaced by Derrick Emukule having been on the receiving end of Baker Buyala and Sharif Saaka’s first half goals.
