Ugandan offensive midfielder Lawrence Ndugga will be in action on Friday 12th September as his club Orapa United of Botswana takes on Gabonese side Mongasports FC at the Augustine Monedan Stadium in Gabon in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Ndugga and his Orapa United teammates have not been in action since 2019 since the Botswana 2019/20 season was not played due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Ndugga believes they are braced for the challenge ahead of them despite spending almost two years minus playing active football.
“We have not been in competitive football but with the preparations we have had I believe we can get a positive result away from home.”
Ndugga told this website.
“All our players in the camp are highly motivated and we are ready to play their hearts out because we know what it takes.”
The former BUL FC and Kira Young midfielder added.
The return leg will be played on September 18th at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana.
Orapa United will be representing Botswana in the CAF Confederation Cup for the second time in a row having won the 2019 Mascon Super 8 trophy which guarantees an entry in the continental competition.
Last year Orapa United were eliminated at this same stage by AS Kigali of Rwanda on away goals rules after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
