Nassuna scores 4 past Lango Queens as Lady Doves and Kawempe pick away victories

Hasifa Nassuna became the first player to score three or more goals in a single match this season as the second round of the FUFA Women Elite League commenced on Saturday February 2nd.

The crafty striker scored four goals as her UCU Lady Cardinals side trounced league debutants Lango Queens 5-1 at Mukono.

By half time, the University side were in a comfortable 4-0 lead courtesy of a Nassuna hat trick which came in a space of 7 minutes and a goal from Kenyan striker Maureen Kinavudori.

The visiting team pulled one back through Zamzam Akullo at the hour mark before Nassuna completed her quadruple with another goal in the late kicks of the encounter.

The Crested Cranes striker took her season tally to 9 goals and becomes the leading scorer overtaking Kawempe Muslim’s Juliet Nalukenge who has 7.

Victory propelled UCU Lady Cardinals to level with table leaders Kampala Queens on 15 points each separated by goal difference.

Kampala Queens drew 2-2 with Isra Soccer Academy in a thrilling encounter played at the Old Kampala primary school playground.

New signing Doreen Nabukeera acquired from Riness WFC had put Farida Bulega’s side in the lead but Fauzia Najjemba levelled the matters to ensure a 1-1 stalemate at halftime.

Crested Cranes’ dimunitive winger Lillian Mutuuzo restored Kampala Queens’ lead moments into the second stanza but Shamirah Nalugya salvaged a draw for Isra Soccer Academy.

Four times champions Kawempe Muslim overcame lowly placed side Dynamic SS Jjeza with a 2-0 win at Muduuma playground in Mityana district.

Striker Juliet Nalukenge struck first before Tracy Jones Akiror made it 2-0 with her third goal of the season.

Kawempe Muslim lead the Victoria group with 22 points garnered from 8 games played. The school side are on a steady 7 match winning streak and are yet to concede since their 1-1 draw with Lady Doves at the start of the season.

The Masindi outfit who are also unbeaten in 8 outings, are second on the Victoria group table with 6 points behind the Kawempe pacesetters.

The Elite league will resume on Sunday with 4 games, 2 in each group.

In Victoria, Muteesa I University will play hosts to She Corporates while Asubo-Gafford Ladies welcome Ajax Queens at Kanyanya.

Makerere University female team will lock horns with Uganda Martyrs at the University playground whereas bottom placed Town View SS will play hosts to Olila High school at Bugiri medical ground.
