Nanyondo storms 1500m Olympic final

Winnie Nanyondo stormed the 1500m Olympic final after finishing fourth in heat two at the Olympic stadium in Japan on Wednesday.

Nanyondo posted a time of 4:01.64 to finish behind favourites Netherlands Sifan Hassan, Great Britain’s Laura Muir and Linden Hall.

Heat two was won by 5000m Olympic champion Hassan in a time of 4:00.23 while Muir was second in a time of 4:00:63.

The top five placed in each heat automatically made it to the final and the next fastest also progressed to the final.

Nanyondo who missed out the 800m final keeps her dream for an Olympic medal alive.

She will on Friday line up against the World’s best for the epic final at the Olympic stadium at 3:50Pm
