The Uganda U-17 female team head coach Ayub Khalifa has summoned a provisional 25-player squad ahead of the first round qualifier against Tanzania.
Uganda will face Tanzania in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifer on 1st March in Dar es salaam before meeting again two weeks later in Kampala.
Midfielder Shamira Nalugya and ambidextrous left back Grace Aluka, both from Kawempe Muslim Ladies Team, are the key inclusions in the squad that will enter residential camp on Valentine’s day.
Both Nalugya and Aluka have been part of the senior team The Crested Cranes as well as the U-20 team.
Nalugya is expected to boast the team’s midfield while Aluka is expected to feature in the left back position that has had Summayyah Komuntale as a makeshift.
The squad also includes Uganda Martrys High School duo of Brenda Munyana and Latifa Nakasi who have been impressive so far this season with the latter scoring four goals.
The core of the team has been maintained from goal to defense, midfield and attack.
Uganda beat Ethiopia 5-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round while Tanzania defeated Burundi 6-1 after two legs.
The aggregate winners between Uganda and Tanzania will face Cameroon or Sao Tome and Principe whereby the eventual winners will book a berth in the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in India in November.
