Mutyaba strikes as KCCA end Vipers unbeaten run

Muzamir Mutyaba’s first half goal was the only difference as KCCA beat rivals Vipers to end their league unbeaten run at the StarTimes stadium in Lugogo.

Coming into the game, Vipers were unbeaten in their last 16 league games, 13 of which have been in the ongoing season.

With half an hour played, Mustafa Kizza had his diagonal long ball meet Erisa Ssekisambu who immediately beat defender Aziz Kayondo on the flank to set up Muzamir Mutyaba who sent the the ball into the back of the net to put the hosts into the lead.

In the second stanza, Edward Golola introduced Allan Kayiwa whose presence was immediately felt by KCCA defenders Filbert Obenchan, John Revita and Samuel Kato.

Jamil Malyamungu parried away Kayiwa’s late effort to deny Vipers an equaliser in 60th minute.

Siraje Ssentamu, Rahmat Ssenfuka and Nkuubi Brian all had shots at goal for Vipers but could not find a leveller.

Erisa Sekisambu also tormented his former pay masters

Vipers SC remain on top of the log with 33 points and will play their last game of the first round against Maroons FC.

The win takes KCCA FC to 22 points but remain 5th after 10 games. KCCA will host URA Wednesday 20th November.
