Mutombora punches teammate as Vipers make light work of Busoga United

Vipers SC secured their 9th consecutive home win with a 4-0 over Busoga United in a Uganda Premier League contest played on Tuesday evening at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Goals from left back Aziz Kayondo, a brace from Yunus Sentamu and second half substitute Milton Karisa ensured that the defending champions record a league double over Busoga United.

It was the third game between the two sides in a space of eight days after their two legged round of 32 Stanbic Uganda Cup contest.

In the 24th minute, Kayondo gave Vipers the lead when his intended cross from 35 yards hit the back of the net.

Vipers controlled possession from the start and deserved to head into halftime breather leading.

Two minutes after the recess, Sentamu calmly doubled the Kitende based side’s lead before completing his brace from the spot in the 65th minute.

Karisa who was making his first appearance for Vipers this year completed the scoring with a cool finish.

The hosts could have scored more but Karisa, Sentamu and Karim Watambala missed several chances.

Immediately after the final whistle Vipers custodian Fabien Mutombora was shown red for punching his teammate Aziz Kayondo. The two players had spent moments in the second half arguing.

Vipers stay top with 39 points on the Uganda Premier League and will next travel to Kitara on Friday.

Busoga United who next host Police FC on Saturday and stay 12th with 17 points.
