Among these is the expansive confidence to take on any side and the ability to handle immense pressure when faced by the biggest opposition.
“The team has grown in confidence, the players can play with belief even when playing away from home. We can compete with any team on the continent.”
“We defend with discipline and try to go forward which is good for the team, I believe this is a priceless component achieved”.
The tactician however blamed his side’s painful exit at carelessness and the failure to contain their nerves especially at critical moments.
“We still have to work on the issue of carelessness especially in the midfield. These players are not used to the passing game, sometimes when they have the ball they are left out of ideas of how to use it.
“This is because it is new thing for Ugandan players and this cost us points.”
Mutebi reserved a lot of praise for their improved away performances despite failing to pick a point on the enemy grounds.
“We have had memorable performances away from home this season, we were fearless and played an attacking brand of football, we managed to score lots of goals, a feat we never managed last season.
“This season we have scored more goals away from home than even at home, though sometimes when we score, we feel for ourselves maybe we are not sure. But it was a great journey since we were not stressed by any team in the competition.”
Mutebi’s side and Botswana side Township Rollers both were sent home packing whereas Esperance Tunis and Al Ahly journey continues in the competition.
