Derrick Nsibambi kept KCCA’s title hopes alive with a brace against BUL FC at StarTimes stadium as Pierre Kambale scored for the visitors. The result meant that this season’s AUPL title will be decided on the final of the season.

KCCA FC tactician Mike Mutebi says that CAF engagements have not affected his side title defense but there has been stiff competition compared to last season. He narrates,

“This season there has been stiff competition compared to last season and that’s why the title will be decided on the final day. We knew that our team will play not less than 50 games this season and we prepared our players and so CAF engagements have not affected us.”

On what his side has achieved this season,

“KCCA is the only club to bring 11 younger players from the academy and among these 8 are starters on the team. The last team to do so is Barcelona in 2003 with the likes of Iniesta, Messi and Fabregas.”

Our achievements are not short term but to keep these younger players stay at the club for a long period of time. The good thing they have started their careers as winners and they are the one’s who won the double last season.”

Mutebi also pointed out playing on the continent as the other achievement this season

“We have gone on the continent and shown that a younger team can compete with the big guns. The opposition coaches always ask how we do make the younger ones play and perform, so we are grateful for this and hope it will take us forward.”

Mutebi’s side will have to win their last league game of the season away to Police on Friday and hope that UPDF game with Vipers ends in a stalement. If all goes in their favor the Lugogo outfit will be crowned champions for a third consecutive season.
