His footballing career started at primary level with Buikwe Moslem P/s and Buikwe Junior. After here , he joined Lugazi homeland for S.1 under the guidance of the late Sheikh Jamil Kakeeto (RIP) a man he holds in high regard as a fatherly figure took him to Real college Busunju from S.2 to S.5 and he spent 4 years at the school.

Due to impressive performances at Real college, Mutanda joined St Mary’s Kitende for S.6 and he enjoyed great success winning the copa coca-cola National schools competition together with the likes of Mandela Ashiraf,Waswa Geoffrey both at vipers SC, Katongole Herbert now at Sadolin, Jjungu Methodius now at Bright stars, but he fell short of winning the East Africa schools’ competitions in his one year at Kitende. He is another product of the FUFA U17 league where he was part of the victorious team that beat KCCA in the final’s playoff.

MASAZA CUP STINT.

In 2015, He played for Bululi and in 2016 he played for Buwekula and won the Luwangula cup, beating Singo 1-0 in the finals.
At Buwekula he played alongside Kinye Moses now at Kira United in Big league, Nyakojjo Benjamin on loan at Entebbe from Vipers, Kawawulo Isma and Kiberu both at Nyamityobora.

CLUB LEVEL

Mutanda’s tremendous work at St.Mary’s Kitende helped him get a chance to play for Vipers, where he was unfortunate not to command a starting place due heavy competition after the arrival of Milton Kariisa and the already established stars like Tonny Odur and Erisa Ssekisambu , Mutanda was however, loaned to Kirinya Jinja s.s in the second half of the season this year where he has made a name for himself.

Just like the burgeoning talents of Marcus Rashford and Kylian Mbappe, Bashir is a big game player. His sole strike from the spot against Villa dented the 16 times league champions chances of winning the league this season, this goal not only affected Villa, but also acted as a morale booster to the team , thus avoiding relegation.
Last year, Mutanda Bashir was summoned to the national U20s (HIPPOS) team that played against Rwanda though he didn’t turn up due to a knee injury.

His dream is to see himself playing for the national team on the big stage and also getting a chance to play professional football in one of the top European leagues.

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT HIM

Mutanda is a very intelligent player with great passion for the game , disciplined , a tenacious drive , terrific speed , bags of skill and he is always willing to improve. He will be a deadly striker if he works on improving his goal ratios since strikers are always marketed by their goals ratios, and his position is very competitive and one that demands for results”

…. Says Richard Wasswa, Coach Vipers SC and St. Mary’s Kitende.

There is no doubt the player’s feistiness on the pitch is what endears him to the fans of his current club, its however now unclear whether the current loan deal will be extended, or will he go back to his parent club but everyone in life has a journey, this is Mutanda’s short football journey so far. With hardwork and focus, the sky is the limit for him.
