Express Vs Soana
Venue : Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku
Kick off : 4:30pm
With only 10 games left, time is running out for Express FC to save their premier league status and this calls for no room for errors for the 6-time champions as they host Soana FC at Wankulukuku.
Express who are tottering at the base of the AUPL table, have corrected only 16 points from 20 games and risk being relegated for the first time in history.
They take on a Soana side which sits 11th on table and come into this fixture after edging URA 1-0 at Kavumba. Express on the other hand agonizingly lost to Police 4-3 in the last kicks of a 7 goal thriller on Saturday.
Form Guide :
Both sides have managed 3 wins against each other in the previous 9 league meetings they have faced head on. They have also drawn on 3 occasions. Soana won the recent meeting 1-0 at Kavumba in November last year.
Soana have only won one game away from home this season. They have lost 6 and drawn 3 others. Express on the other hand have managed 3 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses in the 10 games they have hosted this season.
Express coach Shafiq Bisaso asserts his team will build on their performance in the previous games against Police to win this match.
“We have had a good preparation even before the Police game. We had a lot of positives and negatives from the last game but we are taking up the good ones. It was the first time we scored 3 goals though we lost.”
“We had a good display against Police but unfortunately the players gave in to the mounting pressure in the eleventh hour. It was like a battle and we lost it. This time round, we have aimed at containing pressure as well as maintaining our good performance to win tomorrow.”
Bisaso has expressed his delight for the arrival of George Best Nsimbe who joined the Express technical bench today morning.
“Nsimbe has came abroad to help in polishing the team’s performance. He brings a lot with him because he has got undoubted experience in Ugandan football and outside Uganda.”
Bisaso will cope up without Edgar Bwogi as well as midfielder Mubarak Nsubuga who sustained an injury in the first half of the previous match.
Forwards Alfred Leku and Michael Birungi will have to improve on their sharpness in front of the goal if Express stands a chance to win the game tomorrow.
Alex Isabirye the Soana tactician has declared tomorrow’s game as an extremely tricky fixture for his side,
“The fact that Express is also desperate for the same 3 points makes the match more tricky and complex. I would rather play against Vipers, KCCA or SC Villa than playing a relegation threatened Express side at this particular moment.”
“Express is playing at home and they come into this fixture having scored 3 goals in the last game yet my team has a low scoring rate though we rarely concede that easily.”
“Most importantly, provided my players have a good day, we can get maximum points because they are in good shape and I have great confidence in them.”
Simon Okwir is the only Soana player ruled out of this tie after sustaining an injury last week. In his presence, Isabirye will rely on Baker Buyala and Steven Bengo upfront.
A win for Express can propel them from the bottom place to as far as the 14th position should other results go their way whereas Soana can temporarily move to the 8th spot if they get 3 points.
