Musagala eyes 1500m Olympic semifinal slot

Uganda’s middle distance runner Ronald Musagala will be seeking for a place in the Men’s 1500m Olympic semifinal on Tuesday morning.

Musagala who has a personal best of 3:30.58 he set in Monaco in 2019 will be heat three of Round one of 1500m at the National Stadium in Japan.

This will be Musagala’s second Olympic appearance having made his debut in Rio five years ago.

During the 2016 games, Musagala finished 11th in the 1500m final.

He will face stiff competition from reigning Olympic champion Mathew Centrowitz of USA, Polish Marcin Lewandowski, Kenyan Timothy Cheruiyot among others.

The best six in every heat will progress to the semis of the 1500m.

Meanwhile, Uganda has already registered two medals at the ongoing Tokyo games, Silver and bronze from Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo who excelled in the 10000m final.
