Vipers Sports Club Patron Lawrence Mulindwa has called upon the FUFA and the Uganda Premier League Secretariat to declare Express FC as the 2020/21 champions.

Mulindwa made the statements on Monday while speaking to Sanyuka TV at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende

The Vipers Patron says that the Federation should use the 75% rule they used last season to declare the new Uganda Premier league champions this term to help them prepare early for CAF engagements

“I take this opportunity to advise FUFA and the Uganda Premier League to apply the 75% rule to declare Express FC as champions just like they did last season.”

They shouldn’t waste time to talk to the Prime Minister over the resumption of the league, they should apply the rule and teams started preparing for the new season.”

Our representatives at the continent need ample time to prepare, strengthening their squads and as well as looking for funds, so the earlier we know for the better.”

The former FUFA boss adds that with the poverty in clubs few can afford testing players and resumption of the league will putting lives of Ugandans at risk

“Even if the Prime minister allows, she won’t be responsible for removing Covid-19. How do you trust the players playing against each other? Vaccination is also not treatment. With the poverty in our clubs, which one are ready to carryout regular testing so we shouldn’t risk the life of Ugandans.” He stated Mulindwa.

Following the President’s new directives over the surging Covid-19 cases in the country, FUFA suspended the Uganda Premier league, Uganda Cup and FUFA Big League.

Express FC are at the Summit of the Uganda Premier League with 58 points garnered in 26 games.
