In a weekend that produced 20 goals out of the 8 games played in the Airtel Masaza cup.
Vipers’ latest acquisition Steven Mukwala stole the show with a 5 star display, the Ssingo talisman netted 5 goals as his side humiliated Busujju with a 5-0 scoreline at Mityana Ssaza grounds.
The striker scored his first of the day in the 42nd minute with a tap in, then doubled the lead through a calmly taken penalty kick 2 minutes to halftime.
He completed his hat trick 67th minutes into the second half from a well curved free kick, before adding the fourth 20 minutes to time and finished the day with a fifth in the 76th minute with a bullet header from a corner kick.
Mukwala became the first player in Masaza cup history to score five goals in a single game, he now leads the top scorer charts with 8 goals fellowed by Janjali Joseph (Gomba) Kyeyune Meddie (Kooki) and Ssemugabi Jackson(Kyagwe) all on 5 goals
Ssingo’s win confirmed a spot for the 2015 champions to the knockout phase alongside group C perennial nemesis Gomba who also pulled up a 2-0 home victory over Buwekula at Kabulasoke both goals were scored by danger man Janjali Joseph.
In group D, Kyaggwe’s chances of making it to the quarterfinals now hang in balance after a 1-1 home draw with rivals Bugerere.
In the same group, Bulemezi were 3-0 victors over Bululi, the result also puts them in pole position to qualify for the next round
The 2012 champions ( Bulemezi) top group D with 10 points followed by Bugerere on 8 points.
Group B, saw defending champions Buddu confirm a place to the last eight with a narrow 1-0 win over Kabula.
Earlier on, the same group produced a 1-1 draw between Ssese and Mawogola at Lutoboka.
Other games, Kyaddondo only needed a point to advance to the quarter finals but they suffered a shock home 2-1 loss to visitors Butambala in a group A encounter at Gayaza high, whereas Kalumba Brian’s hat trick helped joint record champions Mawokota to a 3-0 home win over Buvuma .
