Mucurezi, Ndugwa condemn Bright Stars to 3rd straight loss

Mbarara City 2-1 Bright Stars

The Ankole Lions capped the year with a 2-1 victory over Bright Stars at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.

Paul Mucurezi and Karim Ndugwa scored goals in each half for Mbarara City while Augustine Kacancu did the same for the visiting side.

Mucurezi ensured a halftime lead for Livingstone Mbabazi’s charges with a 19th minute goal before Kacancu tied the contest moments after the resumption.

Mucurezi turned the provider with his 7th assist of the season for Ndugwa who restored the lead with only nine minutes left to play.

Victory leaves Mbarara City fourth on the table with the same number of points (23) as 3rd placed Onduparaka who have a superior goal difference.

Bright Stars remain 6th on the table with 19 points after losing three consecutive games against URA FC, Police FC and the most recent in Kakyeka.

Both teams will be in action next year when Mbarara City visit Onduparaka on Friday January 4th while Bright Stars welcome Vipers a day after.
