Ugandan attacker Joseph Mpande Mbolimbo scored a hat trick as his side Hantharwady United thumped Myawady FC 9-0 at the Grande Royal Stadium in the Myanmar National League.
Mpande was on target in the 29th, 40th and 59th minutes as he took his season tally to 9 goals so far, 2 shy of the leading scorer Sekou Sylla of Yangon United.
Defender Shwe Hlaing Win opened the rout with a header from a well delivered corner kick before Paing Moe Wai doubled the lead 5 minutes later rebounding home a spilled Mpande thunderbolt free kick.
Shwe Hlaing Win made it 3-0 with another thumping header from a well delivered cross from the left wing in the 15th minute.
Mpande then scored his first of the evening with a header off a Mark Sekyi cross at the half hour mark to make it 4-0.
10 minutes later, Mpande found his side’s 5th but his second of the game with a calm finish from 10 yards.
Myawady FC were reduced to 10 men when their skipper Ye Wai Yan Soe got sent off for elbowing in an aerial duel.
The halftime whistle saw Hantharwady United lead 5-0.
Enter the second half, Ghanaian Mark Sekyi scored two quick goals in the 48th and 57th minutes to make it 7 for Hantharwady.
2 minutes after the 7th goal, Mpande orchestrated an attack from the centre line and completed his hat-trick from close range pouncing on a lose ball in the box.
Kway Zay Ya completed the rout with a sublime finish at the near post after catching the defense flat footed in the 65th minute.
The dying minutes of the game saw Myawady FC more cautious not to concede the 10th goal.
The 9-0 win elevates Hantharwady United to the 5th place with 23 points garnered from 13 games played. They will play against 2nd placed Magwe FC in their subsequent league fixture on Sunday 10th June 2018 at home.
