Mpande brace salvages a point for Hantharwady

Joseph Mpande Mbolimbo scored a brace as Hantharwady United shared spoils with Yadanarbon FC in match day 21 of the Myanmar National League on Friday.

Yadanarbon FC had taken a lead in 23rd minute through a penalty from Ye Ka Oo before Mpande stepped up to the occasion to level matters at the stroke of half time.

The second half saw Win Naing Soe restore Yadanarbon FC’s lead a minute past the hour mark.

With the game destined to a 2-1 victory for Yadanarbon FC, Mpande stepped up once again.

The former Vipers skipper levelled the scores in the 90th minute after converting from 12 yards.

The brace takes Mpande to 15 goals this season and remains second on the scorers’ chats – 2 behind Guinean forward Sekou Sylla of Yangon United.

The stalemate keeps Mpande and his teammates fourth on the MTP Myanmar National League with 33 points collected from 21 games.

Hantharwady United will return to action with another home duel against Ayeyawady United on Sunday 23rd September at the Royal Stadium in Bago.
