MOTORSPORT : Hassan Alwi clinches victory in Jinja

The second round of the National Rally Championship climaxed on Sunday in Jinja.

Hassan Alwi and Joseph Kamya clinched victory in the event where several drivers faced a series of challenges.

This was Alwi’s first victory since the 2018 Hoima Rally.

The Championship attracted 42 crews but only 20 managed to finish the event. Duncan Mubiru who won the first round of the National Rally in Mbarara and Ronald Sebuguzi were among those who didn’t complete the Rally.

Ponsiano Lwakataka put up an imperious performance and finished in second place 1 minute and 10 seconds behind Alwi while Arthur Blick Jr who missed the first event settled for third place

George Semakula completed in fourth position whereas Fred Busulwa finished fifth.

Abdul Kateete finished sixth followed by Omar Mayanja in seventh place.

Busulwa now leads the NRC with 130 points after two rounds.
