Joel Madondo finally made his debut at Wydad Casablanca in their 1-0 defeat to Difaā El Jadidi in the Moroccan Botola League game played at the Mohamed V. Stadium in Casablanca on Saturday.
The Uganda Cranes striker had to wait for his first appearance for a month since completing his move from Busoga United in the Uganda Premier League.
Madondo, donning shirt number 10, came on in the 71st minute replacing Moroccan forward Zouhair El Moutaraji in a bid to find an equalizer for the Sebastien Desabre coached side.
Tanzanian forward Saimon Happygod Msuva scored for Difaā El Jadidi in the 20th minute of the game from a well orchestrated counter attack.
The home side kept pushing for a leveller which never came hence succumbing to their third defeat of the season.
Despite defeat, Wydad Casablanca stay top of the Botola League table with 33 points garnered from 16 games played.
Difaā El Jadidi are now seventh with 23 points, two more than Nelson Senkatuka’s Mogreb Tetouan who face AS FAR Rabat on Sunday.
The defeat to Difaā El Jadidi was the second in the five games Desabre has been in charge of the Moroccan champions. The other coming against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.
Wydad Casablanca were drawn against Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in the quarter finals of the Caf Champions League.
