Ugandan offensive player Miya Farouk was on the score sheet once again and registered an assist on his name as his side Sabail FC earned a crucial 2-1 away win against Sumqayit in the Azerbaijani top tier.
Miya opened up the scores at the Kapital Bank Arena with one of his routine thunderbolt strikes from outside the box in the 31st minute of the game.
8 minutes later, Miya realised Aqshin Gurbanli with an exquisite pass and the latter flawlessly finished off with a left footed low drive to double the scoreline.
Sumqayit tried to chase the game and it was second half substitute Amil Yunanov who found them a consolation goal in the 76th minute but wasn’t enough to level the matters.
Miya’s strike was his second for his Azerbaijani outfit and his second in two games after scoring in the previous encounter against Kapaz FC a week ago.
The 2-1 victory takes Sabail to 23 points garnered from 25 league outings but remain 7th on the 8-team log. Sumqayit also stay static in the 3rd position with 39 points from 25 league games.
Sabail FC will play against 5th placed Zira FC in their subsequent league fixture on Saturday 5th May at the Bayil Arena in Baku.
