Miya, Muleme survive relegation : How Ugandan players fared over the weekend

A number of Ugandan players were in action over the concluded weekend. Farouk Miya and Isaac Muleme survived relegation while Edrisa Lubega and Seiri Arigumaho were on target in Estonia and Tanzania respectively.

Here is how Ugandan representatives performed in their respective leagues;

ESTONIA

Edrisa Lubega scored the lone goal in the 20th minute for Paide Linnameeskond in their 3-1 defeat to Nomme Kalju in the Estonian Premium Liiga on Saturday.

Lubega who has now scored four goals and registered two assists in 12 league games, was withdrawn for Ander Ott Valge in the 86th minute.

TURKEY

Farouk Miya was serving suspension as Konyaspor Külubü registered an emphatic 4-3 win over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday evening.

The victory meant that Konyaspor survived relegation with a game to the season climax. Konyaspor are 13th with 36 points, four above the drop zone.

Miya, scorer of eight league goals, is expected to return to action in the final game against Alanyaspor on Sunday 26th July.

SLOVAKIA

Isaac Muleme was not part of the Nitra FC team that beat FK Dubnica 3-0 in the Slovakia Superliga relegation/promotion play offs on Saturday.

Muleme was not used following the expiry of his six-month loan contract from Czech Republic’s Viktoria Zizkov.

DENMARK

Moses Opondo played 45 minutes as OB Odense defeated Randers 2-0 on Sunday. He was replaced by Aron Elis Thrandarson on the resumption.

Robert Kakeeto played 57 minutes before he was replaced by Magnus Christiansen as AaB Aalborg beat Brondby IF 1-0 on Sunday.

USA

Midfielder Mike Azira wasn’t part of the Chicago Fire team that lost 2-0 to San Jose Earthquake in the Major League Soccer on Sunday morning.

TANZANIA

Right back Nicholas Wadada was in action for Azam FC in their 1-1 draw with Lipuli FC in the Tanzanian league on Sunday.

Striker Seiri Arigumaho scored one of the two goals as Singida United defeated Ruvu Shooting 2-0 on Saturday.

Midfielder Boban Zirintusa Bogere was an unused substitute as Mtibwa Sugar lost 1-0 to KMC on Saturday.

SWEDEN

Ronald Ddungu Mukiibi was not part of the Ostersunds FK team that drew 2-2 with BK Hacken on Sunday. Ugandan born midfielder Isak Sewankambo, however, played 79 minutes for Ostersunds.

Defender Mukisa Kenneth Mbayo played fulltime as Team TG FF lost 4-2 toIFK Lulea in the Swedish third tier on Saturday.

Uganda Cranes striker Alexis David Bbakka was not part of Umea FC team that drew 1-1 with GAIS Goteborg in the Swedish second tier due to injury.

Viola Nambi was not part of the Vaxjo DFF matchday squad that lost 1-0 to Orebro DFF in the Swedish Women’s top-flight on Sunday.

Rita Kivumbi played 66 minutes before she was substituted as Mallbackens IF lost 2-0 to AIK Women in the Swedish Women’s second tier on Saturday.

ZAMBIA

The Zambian league officially resumed after a prolonged pandemic break.

Paul Musamali made an assist for Chanda Mushili in the 46th minute as Buildcon FC played out a one-all draw with Power Dynamos on Sunday.

Mathias Kigonya and his Forest Rangers teammates were not in action on Saturday as anticipated after the club registered 28 COVID-19 positive cases.

VIETNAM

Moses Oloya

Moses Oloya and Joseph Mpande faced off as Ha Noi FC defeated Hai Phong 1-0 in the Vietnamese V-League on Friday with both players playing 90 minutes for either sides.

Godfrey Baba Kizito made a successful return from injury as Than Quang Ninh defeated SHB Da Nang 2-1 on Saturday.

SOMALIA

Former Soana and Ndejje University striker Steven Ategeka scored a late equaliser for Gaadidka FC in a one-all draw against Midnimo FC in the Somali Premier League on Friday.
