Micho in a recent match for the Cranes
After 4 years of service with the Ugandan National team the cranes, the love affair between the nation and Serbian coach Milutin Micho Sredejovic has finally come to an end and he will hold a press conference on Monday at Hotel Sheraton to officially announce his resignation.
Micho has tendered in his resignation after the Cranes beat South Sudan 5-1 at Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo. He cites delayed payments and lack appreciation from his bosses as the reasons behind his exit.
During today’s game at Lugogo, Micho was spotted putting on a Blue pair of tracksuits which he later handed over to SC Villa die hard Miracle Namalere signifying his recognition and appreciation to SC Villa the Club which introduced him to Ugandan football in 2001.
It’s reported that Micho will be joining South African giants Orlando Pirates whom he managed in 2006. Micho is a big fan of Sam Simbwa and URA’s Ibrahim Kirya and its the pair he would recommend to take over from him due their superior man management skills.
Micho Sredejovic will be remembered in Ugandan football history as the man who broke the nation’s jinx of failure to qualify for Africa’s biggest tournament (AFCON) for close to 39 years, when he beat Comoros 1-0 at Namboole.
If his next destination is on the African continent, it will be his 9th appointment in Africa after coaching at SC Villa in 2001-04, Saint George in Ethiopia, Young Africans in Tanzania, Al Hilal Onduman in Sudan, The Rwandan National team, bad the Ugandan National team the cranes.
