MEET YOUR STARS : Youngster Sadam Masereka dreams to reap big from football

Thename Sadam Masereka will always be remembered for a youngster who came off the bench to score on his debut as the Uganda U-20 national team The Hippos made light work of their South Sudan counterparts in the 2019 AFCON U-20 Qualifiers at Lugogo on March 31st 2018.

Masereka came on early in the second half for Joshua Okiror as The Hippos who were under the tutelage of coach Matia Lule, won 5-1 in the first leg encounter.

Just like any other ordinary player, Masereka’s footballing script rolls from a low background somewhere in Kasese but has since then embraced the beautiful game with a gradual progress.

The youngster is blessed with the rare ability of using either foot and can perfectly play in any of the advanced positions.

“I always thank God for blessing me with this talent, I have been able to earn education because of my talent. I have been blessed with great people in life because of football.” Masereka reveals.

The former Buddo SS offensive midfielder had his primary education at Kasese Primary School, Kasese Muslim and Infant Preparatory School from where he joined Lugazi Homeland Secondary School for his S1 and S2.

Masereka was instrumental when Buddo SS won both the National Post Primaries (NPP – Copa Coca Cola) held in Mbarara and the East African Secondary Schools title (FEASSA) held in Rwanda in 2018.

Upon the completion of his Advanced Level Education, the budding midfielder yearns for an opportunity to play professional football but as well continue with his education on University level.

” My focus is now on attaining University education.” Masereka asserts.

‘I believe I can reap big from the beautiful game but I know this can be achieved by continuous hard work and utmost discipline should be a key in this.”

At only 19, Masereka is earmarked as one of the hottest football prospects in the country. He is known for his enviable quick passing, pacy, agility and knack of defense splitting passes.

He has represented Uganda in the U-20 AFCON Qualifiers as well as the 2019 U-20 CECAFA tournament held in Gulu and Njeru but has also previously featured for Nyamityobora FC and lately BUL Football Club.
