English Premier League side Aston Villa have signed Tanzanian striker Mbwana Samatta.
Samatta joins Villa from Belgium side Genk on a four and half year deal, subject to a work permit and international clearance being granted.
The move cost Villa £10m and will see Samatta become the first Tanzanian to play in the Premier league.
During his time at Genk, he scored 43 goals in 98 appearances for club in Belgium’s topflight. This campaign, he managed to score 10 goals from the Belgian side in all competitions including a memorable champions league goal against Liverpool at Anfield.
Samatta is Villa’s third acquisition of the transfer window following two loan signings of Midfielder Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea and goalie Pepe Reina from AC Milan.
