After sacking head coach Ibrahim Kirya, Mbarara city FC will host Maroons FC at Kakyeka stadium in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Interim coach Sam Kawalya will start his journey against a very difficult Maroons side that has gone 15 premier league games unbeaten.

The Lions of Ankole being debutants of the league, have only played once against the prison wardens in a game which ended in a goalless stalemate at Luzira prison’s grounds in the first round of the season.

Given the position we are in on the table and the fact that we are playing at home to day, we must fight. So we expect to win this game nothing less than that.”

Said Sam Kawalya the interim coach for Mbarara city FC.

Assist coach Sam Kawalya will be the man at the helm of the Ankole side after the club terminated the services of head coach Ibrahim Kirya accusing him of producing poor results in the recent past.

The hosts will be without Bassey Methodius who is reportedly unfit for the game but will be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Ali Kimera, Swalik Segujja and Yeseri Waibi who have been on suspension while Elieza Okorie and Ibrahim Oriti also return from injury.

In their previous 5 games, Maroons have 2 wins and 3 draws while Mbarara city FC have one win , two draws and two losses.
