The previous three meetings between the two sides have seen Mbarara City win twice (3-1 and 1-0). Express have won the other 1-0 that came in the closing stages of last season.
George Ssemwogerere welcomes back creative midfielder Frank Zaga Tumwesigye and left wingback Disan Galiwango from injury and suspension respectively.
Striker Eric Kambale returned to training but will have to wait a little longer for match fitness, Joel Male is ruled out by a knee injury.
Defenders Arthur Kiggundu and Charles Musoke Mutima are doubtful and will wait for a late fitness test.
Charles Livingstone Mbabazi will continue life without Jasper Ahebwa who has continuously been sidelined by a muscle injury. Ahebwa has been a mainstay in Mbarara City’s regular selection and his absence has since then proved a problem for the Ankole Lions.
