Mbarara City relegated from Uganda Premier league after loss to UPDF

Mbarara City have been relegated from the Uganda Premier after suffering a 2-1 defeat to UPDF at Kakyeka.

Goals from Rogers Mugisha and Aggrey Kirya inspired the Army side to maximum points.

Seiri Arigumaho scored Mbarara City’s goal in the contest.

Kirya gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute before Agumaho levelled matters for the home side five minutes later.

Mugisha restored UPDF’s advantage at the half hour mark and his goal was enough to the Ankole Lions to the Big League.

Mbarara City who gained topflight status in 2017 join Tooro United who were the first team to be relegated. The Ankole Lions stay second from the bottom with 22 points.

UPDF who also relegated Tooro United move up to 7th position with 36 points.

Mbarara will next play Tooro United on 14th May at Kakyeka whereas UPDF travel to Express FC on the same day.

Wasswa Yusuf (GK), James Begesa, Oyirwoth Daglas, Musa Mudde, Kiirya Aggrey, Okello Donato, Simon Mbazira, Ibrahim Wammanah, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Yiga Frank, Mugisha Rogers.
