Henry Kitegenyi and Jude Ssemugabi were on target as Mbarara City beat Arua Hill 2-1 during a Uganda Premier league contest at Kakyeka Stadium.

Mbarara City head coach Hussein Mbalangu got a perfect revenge on the side that sacked him controversially after guiding them to the topflight division.

It was however, a disappointing return for Arua Hill head coach Livingstone Mbabazi to Mbarara as his side suffered their first topflight defeat.

Alfred Leku who was the man of the match during Arua Hill’s shocking 2-0 win over Express on the opening day found consolation for the visitors.

Kitegenyi fired the home side into an early lead with a cool finish after both Ibrahim Magandazi and Faizul Ibrahim horrible defending.

Both sides did not create enough scoring opportunities in the first period and at the halftime breather, Kitegenyi’s goal was the difference.

Two minutes after the recess, Ssemugabi doubled the Ankole Lions advantage with a finisher’s tap in.

The visitors managed to pull one back when Robert Eseru and Leku combined perfectly in the 72nd minute.

The home side could have extended their lead but custodian Richard Anyama twice denied Pitsis Barenge.

Mbarara City have now garnered six points in three games and are now fourth on the UPL table. They will next travel to BUL FC on Tuesday, 2nd November.
