Mbarara City Fc and Soana FC played out to a barren stalemate at Kakyeka Stadium.

The home side were dominant in the first period of the game with few scoring chances falling to Owen Kasule who failed to tap in a rebound following a Hillary Mukundane free kick that had forced Joel Mutakubwa into a save.

Owen Kasule again had a golden chance only to be denied by custodian Joel Mutakubwa after he had brilliantly connected with a Jasper Ahebwa quality cross.

Approaching half time break, Siraje Musindo also had a chance to give the Ankole lions the lead but couldn’t finish a Owen Kasule flick.

In the second half Mbarara City tactician Ibrahim Kirya introduced on Fred Kalanzi, Brian Ahebwa and Clinton Kamugisha for Abdul Karim Kasule, Siraje Musindo and Elieza Okorie respectively.

The second half turned to be a boring one with few chances created by both sides and a point apiece was enough for either side.

Mbarara City Fc defender Asuman Alishe was named as the Fortebet man of the match for his impressive performances.

The drew sees Mbarara City move from 10th to 9th on the log with 21 points while Soana sits 11th with 29 points on the table.

The Ankole lions will now turn focus on the Uganda cup round of 32 tie against Nakitende Fc on Saturday at Kakyeka Stadium whereas Soana will host Onduparaka at Kavumba also in the Uganda cup.
