Following his absence from the technical bench in Mbarara City’s 0-0 stalemate against BUL FC in Kakindu, rumours have emerged that coach Richard Makumbi has ditched the new premier league entrants for a move to the Kenya premier league.
www.swiftsportsug.com reached Fred Mugalu the Mbarara city CEO to clear the air about the alleged exit of Makumbi and he has denied the rumours insisting that the club have not received any notification from the coach about the move and that the club are still working on his documentations that permit him to sit on the technical bench. He said,
“We have also heard about the rumours that he has left but we haven’t gotten any official communication from him, he has just signed a one year contract with us which we think is fair. It is only that he wasn’t around on our first game as we played BUL FC in Kakindu but this came as a result that he was missing some documents he was working on. He delayed a bit and we expect him for the next game. “
Coach Makumbi has formerly worked with BUL, Bunamwaya (Vipers), Soana fc, SCOUL and he was the man in charge when Mbarara city gained promotion to the top flight for their first time ever. It’s not the first time that the experienced coach has been linked with a move away from Mbarara, reports last month emerged linking him with a move to Soana FC.
