The end was near. Livingston Mbabazi’s tenure as Ondupararaka FC’s Head Coach was visibly on the precipice, and the Club’s bold decision to fire him was the worst kept secret. The club management have announced that the embattled coach has been asked to ” step aside until further notice.”
From the outside, Mbabazi would appear to be harshly treated – he led the caterpillars to a decent first round finish – 3rd on 23 points, however many fans had grown tired of the poor performances that have plagued the second round. They have managed to win only once and sit a distant 6th in the table standings.
The club management has been confirmed that Mbabazi has been relieved of his duties until further notice. This has been communicated by the club’s official website (www.onduparakafc.com)
“The management has asked its head Coach Mr Livingstone Mbabazi to step aside with immediate effect from our UPL MD 21 Clash with UPDF until further notice. As this takes effect, the club will make further inquiries into the possible challenges affecting the team and communicate its decisions in due course.”
says the official communication.
The announcement comes few days after the West Nile club lost their first league game since their elevation to the top flight, 1-0 defeat at the hands of SC Villa that sparked off furious chants from the club fans to sack Mbabazi.
The caterpillars who will be facing UPDF today at Bombo, will be under the care of Leo Adraa, Simeon Masaba, Moses Oloya, Morris Adriga and Ramathan Musema.
Mbabazi’s departure leaves Onduparaka sitting in 6th position on the AUPL table with 29 points from 20 games played.
