Title favourites Vipers SC will begin their season challenge with a tricky visit to the champions Stadium at Mwererwe against the Bright Stars FC.

This match comes in the aftermath of Bright stars’ announcement of a partnership with Japanese Company HONDA Soltilo Ltd a move that is likely to uplift the spirits and fortunes of the club who suffered from the lack of finances.

Last season Vipers SC failed to beat Bright stars with both matches ending in stalemates of 0-0 and 1-1 respectively. However in the 2015/16 season, Vipers managed to get the better off of Bright Stars beating them 1-0 home and away.

According to the official club website of Vipers SC, Midfielder Moses Waiswa will miss the game due to a niggling knee problem. Winger Duncan Sseninde is also likely to miss out after sustaining a knock in Sunday’s training.

Bright stars on the other hand are expected to depend on their impressive new signings led by Cranes striker Nelson Ssenkatuka who is also expected to be named captain for the club. Others include Hamza Muwonge who will face his former paymasters  for the first time since he left them in 2013, Farook Kawooya, last season top scorer Fred Ssegujja and Jungu Methodius who will be facing his former employers.

Vipers SC have always had time playing against the teams organised by Fred Kajoba since his time at Simba SC and he was in affirmative to the statistic in his pre match press briefing. He said,

” We are glad for the new development that the management of this club has reached, we are positive that this will be very big step forward, we are going to have a well motivated side, we have done good transfer business and we hope to give any side a good run for their money “.

“Coming into tomorrow’s game, we believe in our capabilities and it’s no secret that Vipers SC have always had a tough time facing us. We have made some good additions especially in some key positions like Hamza Muwonge and Nelson Ssenkatuuka whom we expect to name as our captain. I haven’t had enough pre season time with the team but my assistant Paul Kiwanuka has done a good job.”

Vipers SC expect to hand debuts to new signings Taddeo Lwanga, Tom Masiko and Steven Mukwala.
