KCCA will begin their title defense against Maroons FC a side they last met in the 2015/16 season with KCCA winning 1-0 and 2-1 home and away.
After losing top scorer Geoffrey sserunkuma, kcca will look to Derrick Nsibambi new Nigerian striker Abubakar Tijjani as a source for goals.
” We must defend our title, thats our ultimate target and that means we must be better than we were last season”. Said the Mike Mutebi the KCCA fc tactitian.
The Luzira based side played in the big league last season in which they were crowned champions after defeating Masavu fc 2:1 in the finals at the Star times Stadium in Lugogo.
The most interesting bit of this game is the fact that Maroons’ head coach Asaph Mwebaze once deputised Mike Mutebi at the same club. Mike is currently the head coach of KCCA fc.
All eyes will be on striker Patrick Kaddu who was Maroons fc’s topscorer in the big league last season but has now been signed by KCCA fc. Hopefully, he will be give chance.
Midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba and goalkeeper Jamir Maliamungu are also former players of the Luzira based side.
Maroons’ forward Obuya Pius is confident there is nothing to cause an alarm at Lugogo.
” We are ready and prepared. It’s of course a big team but we shall fight to at least pick a point, we can’t accept to lose it all. All the players are in a winning mood and ready to put up a spirited fight”. He said.
Asked about the fact that two of their own in last season’s squad are now part of their opponents he said ;
“We are not scared about Maliyamungu and Kaddu being on our opponents’ side. They are good players yes, but everyone has his own weaknesses and we are aware of their might. To us they are not threats”. He concluded.
Maroons will look to new signing and former KCCA forward William Wadri for goals and they are expected to hand a debut new recruit and MVP Copa Coca Cola school Championships Wani Ivan.
