13 placed Express FC play host to Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars in round 8 of the Azam Uganda premier league at Wankulukuku Stadium.
Express come into this tie off back to back defeats at the hands of Onduparaka and most recently BUL FC in Jinja whereas Bright Stars edged URA 1-0 in their last match courtesy of a Nelson Senkatuka 43rd minute goal.
Douglas Bamweyana, the Express tactician will be in spotlight as any negative result from this duel is likely to lead to his exit to pave way for Shafik Bisaso who is reportedly in talks with the Express FC hierarchy.
His opposite number, Fred Kajoba has been lauded for the team’s defensive discipline after keeping 2 consecutive clean sheets against KCCA and URA.
The previous 6 encounters between the two sides have seen Express walk away with 3 wins and 2 draws with Bright Stars winning once.
Last season, Express edged Bright Stars 2-0 courtesy of goals from Joseph Semujju and Saddam Juma. In the first round, the 2 had settled for a goalless draw in a match played behind closed doors at Wankulukuku.
Bamweyana will bank on Daniel Muzeyi Serunkuuma, Mubarak Nsubuga, Mike Birungi, David Ndihabwe and Sam Galiwango while Goalkeeper Godwin Buule is doubtful.
The visitors on the other hand will greatly rely on skipper and top scorer Nelson Senkatuka, Seif Batte, Banga Farouk and Hamza Muwonge for inspiration.
Bright Stars lies 8th with 10 points and a win can propel them as far as the 2nd position while Express sits 13th on the table with 7 points from 7 games – a win can elevate them away from the red zone.
